Ever since I installed Ubuntu and realized how much I shouldn’t be afraid of Linux, I feel like I’ve taken the next step in my geekery. It’s even motivated me to post here on this blog which is unfortunately something I rarely do. So I’ve always wanted to have my very own install of Lynx, the text browser Google recommends using to get a good idea of how they see web pages, but never could get it working on a Windows machine (which until recently was the only kind of machine I was familiar with). Now that I’ve got Ubuntu installed (and on the very same machine using VMware - another recent step up in my geekery), I simply opened up the Terminal and typed: sudo apt-get install lynx and voila! Here are some screenshots of the Lynx browser in action:
